Our Staff

Shirley Miller is an instructor in Inverness County, Cape Breton, where she conducts adult upgrading classes in the local community centre. Shirley is a teacher who has taught adults for 24 years.

She teaches adult learners during day/evening hours.

Shirley provides instruction that is based on the interests of the learners, develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and increases self-esteem. Individual learning plans are established at the beginning of the program and progress is evaluated on an ongoing basis. Learner-related records are maintained and kept confidential. As well, there are referrals of learners to community resources as required.

Shirley attends relevant professional development as well as monthly meetings of the organization and the Strait Regional Planning Team.

Shirley displays an understanding of how adult education principles are applied in a classroom setting and has worked for 23 years in various adult learning programs. 

Jesslyn Timmons is an instructor in Inverness County, Cape Breton, where she conducts adult upgrading classes in the local literacy office. Jesslyn is a substitute teacher who has taught in the public school system for over 20 years.

She teaches adult learners during day/evening hours.
